Our main product is the Cavendish banana, which is the most famous type of banana worldwide because it was the best replacement to the Gros Michel banana, which was devastated due to the infamous Panama disease in the 1950’s. The Cavendish banana was grown on the same lands that were used for Gros Michel banana.  

 

There are 3 varieties of Cavendish Banana grown in the Philippines, depending on the elevation of the land where the Banana plant is grown. These include Low-Land bananas, which are grown on flatlands, and Mid-Land and High-Land bananas, which are grown on higher elevation plots of land.  

 

The Low-Land variety is the most abundant variety given the number of available flatlands. Mid-Land and High-Land bananas are rare and are much sweeter due to the lesser concentration levels of oxygen in higher altitudes. The Philippines is one of the few countries that produces these exceptional high-elevation banana varieties.
